Mercy House | Treadwell Abbey
A community of the Moscow Patriarchate, Russian Orthodox Church
In New York City’s historic East Village, aging brownstones frame the busy streets. In years past its famous tenements formed the backdrop to some of America’s most significant cultural stories. And it was here that, in the early nineties, a small and unknown, yet vibrant community began to grow. It was, and is, an unlikely community in an unlikely setting. It strives to live, at times in contrast to its immediate surroundings, a life of witness to Christ. The story of this community, and of its growth, is the story of Mercy House.
